Rotaract Events
Activities organized by the Rotaract Club strive to develop and enhance a member’s commitment to the community and his or her own personal growth. Community service activities are mixed with social opportunities so members learn to work — and play — as a team and achieve great things.
Our Rotaract Club meets the second and fourth Thursdays of every month at 6:00 p.m. at Haskell in Riverside. All meetings feature an outside speaker, meeting business and dinner afterward at a local restaurant.
Even if you can’t make the meetings, there are plenty of other opportunities to get involved. From after-work or weekend community service projects to fun outings such as house parties, dinners, movie nights and more, there is much to choose from in the Rotaract Club.
Signature Events
Our club engages in two major projects each year in which all club members participate. One is a picnic for the local chapter of Big Brothers Big Sisters and the other is the annual Black Tie and Blue Jeans charity gala.
Eighth Annual Black Tie and Blue Jeans Gala: Fire and Ice
This year’s gala will be held Saturday, March 21, 2009, from 7:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m. downtown at the Jacksonville Main Public Library, located at 303 North Laura Street.
This year’s denim and black-tie clad attendees will enjoy an open bar, heavy hors d’oeuvres and dance music provided by the popular, local band, Three Story Fall. Attendees will also have the opportunity to bid on many items during the evening’s silent auction. Typical items up for bid include sports memorabilia, spa packages and restaurant gift certificates.
The Black Tie and Blue Jeans Gala will benefit the Developmental Learning Center Nurse and Learn and all proceeds will go toward sponsorships for children and physical therapy equipment.
Tickets are $50 per person and can be purchased online HERE or from any Rotaract member. For more information or sponsorship opportunities, please contact Chrissy Congro at 904.891.2899.
